ADERANT Peer Group Track

The ADERANT Track provides information on the expanding suite of ADERANT Expert product offerings, software upgrades, and corporate information from both a financial and technical perspective.  We strive to provide a mixture of experience and information from our member firms as well as ADERANT "experts."  Join us to share your experiences with peers and the ADERANT team.

APPLICATIONS Track

Chaired by Candy Sweet of Jones Day

Sessions in the Applications Track focus on the wide variety of applications and application platforms used in the legal industry. You’ll learn new ways of using and managing standard enterprise-wide applications as well as examining the capabilities and competitive advantages of practice area applications. We intend to provide insights into the evaluation, deployment, use and management of application software in your organization.  We will also focus on emerging and innovative technologies utilized by law firms and their clients.


BUSINESS STRATEGY Track

Chaired by John Alber of Bryan Cave

The Business Strategy Track examines how law firm business strategies and technology strategies can be aligned to better enable firms to compete in the global legal marketplace. Sessions will examine law firm economics and operations, practice-enabling technology investments and other areas of practice that show promise for technology leverage, and look for ways in which strategic use of technology can contribute both directly and indirectly to firm revenue and competitive position.


COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION TOOLS Track

Chaired by Chad Ergun of White & Case LLP

The Communications and Collaboration Track will focus on the various ways in which legal organizations exchange information, both internally and externally. These sessions will help you examine, understand and leverage technolgy tools to maximize your organizations ability to efficiently and effectively interact and share knowledge.


EXECUTIVE Track

IT executives are not just technologists, they are business people. Executives need to understand the technology, run IT like a business and work within the legal business model. The Executive Track provides sessions that focus on the business practices of IT, general business management tools and trends, and how to apply them within the executive legal environment.

FINANCE Track

The Finance Track is designed to help your firm benefit from the latest financial management strategies and techniques. This track should help you gain the knowledge you will need to meet the challenges of today’s economy.  The sessions will be future-oriented and focused on providing value through deeper analysis and insight. Through presentations by your peers, as well as knowledgeable vendors, you will have the opportunity to learn what works and share your ideas with your colleagues.


ILTA U Track

Chaired by Sherwood Archibald of Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP

After all the reading and presentations are over, it is time to tie it all together in a LAB environment. The ILTA U track will provide you with the vehicle to drive along this busy technology super highway. We will have hands on training and knowledgeable speakers who have real-life experience - so be ready to sit back and take a test drive. What a great way to test in a controlled environment with a person who can respond to your question while you drive. ILTA U, the session with GPS!


INFORMATION MANAGEMENT Track

Chaired by Meredith Williams of Baker Donelson Bearman Caldwell & Berkowitz

New for ILTA 08 - The new Information Management Track will examine the organizations growing need to find the balance between the best ways to store and maintain multiple types of information, locating those pieces in an efficient and cost effective manner, and dealing with the new legal compliance issues emerging within the industry.  Topics will be related to email management, enterprise content management (ECM), push vs. pull of information, the risks associated with not managing information in the right fashion, and many more.


INFRASTRUCTURE TECHNOLOGIES Track

Chaired by Kathy Lentini of Brown Rudnick Berlack Israels, LLP

The Infrastructure Technologies track will focus on a wide variety of issues facing firms of all sizes today.  We will cover the latest trends in virtualization, backup strategies, network and data management and more.  We will tackle some of the biggest fears, risks and obstacles of ensuring that your infrastructure is ready for all the technology changes and challenges that lie ahead.


INTERACTION Peer Group Track

Chaired by Kate Fontanella of Ropes & Gray LLP

Once again, the InterAction Peer Group is collaborating with the Marketing Technology Discussion Forum to explore the tools to help your firm leverage its technology investment and achieve your business development goals.  Over the course of two days, we'll demonstrate how to use your portal to provide a new perspective of your InterAction data.  We'll survey e-marketing solutions, unearth best practices and processes for the hand-off from marketing to business development, and illustrate how to track and report on it all.


INTERWOVEN Peer Group Track

Chaired by Pat Morris of Torys LLP

The Interwoven Track focuses on the WorkSite and Records Manager application suites and features firms who are addressing not only the technical aspects of information management but also are looking at how traditional law firm processes are changing with the advent of new information and technology demands.  We will hear from firms who have redesigned matter management processes and modified support staff roles in order to fully leverage the power and capability of Interwoven.  Members of the Interwoven executive team will also be on hand to present information about the current status and future direction of the company and its products for the legal industry.


KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT Peer Group Track

Chaired by Catherine Monte of Fox Rothschild, LLP

The sessions in the Knowledge Management Track will cover practical, implementable tools and processes that support knowledge sharing and reuse.  Presentations and discussions will highlight real-world examples of such tools and processes, along with the cultural and change management issues that must be addressed with any KM initiative.  The goal of the session leaders will be to create forums that give attendees pragmatic takeaways to help make KM successful in their organizations.


LAW DEPT Peer Group Track

Chaired by Sally Letteri of United States Steel Corporation

The Law Department Track focuses on issues and concerns that face members of law department technology staffs in corporate, government or educational entities. We often find that a law department has different challenges from a law firm, or that different solutions are prevalent for some of the same challenges, based on perspective and the interaction with the corporate IT organization. This track provides educational sessions as well as roundtable discussions.


LITIGATION SUPPORT Peer Group Track

Chaired by Mary Pat Poteet of DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary

With two days and eight sessions, the Litigation Support Track covers a variety of timely topics. Electronic discovery continues to be at the forefront of the industry, and we look at the new FRCP, how they have impacted court decisions and how we are doing our job. We also look at issues that affect the inner workings of litigation support and the software tools we use. Hear what your colleagues have to say, and contribute to the discussions.

MICROSOFT Peer Group Track

Chaired by Kara Portwood of Armstrong Teasdale LLP

Many firms are researching, planning and preparing for Office 2007 migrations.  This year we look at the Office 2007 products and provide you with the information you need to implement and make the best use of them with speakers from Microsoft, third-party developers and integrators, as well as your peers.  We will also be taking a closer look at Windows Vista, Exchange Server, SharePoint 2007 and many more.

MOBILE, REMOTE AND WIRELESS Peer Group Track

If you want the latest and greatest on  mobile devices, services, wireless networks, Citrix and more, this is the place for you. This track focuses on the technologies involved in the worlds of mobile, remote and wireless computing. Learn how other ILTA members are utilizing these varied technologies to advance their firms and what it takes to manage and support them. We also present new hardware and software offerings from different vendors in these spaces.

OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE Peer Group Track

Good, fast and cheap! Dream the impossible dream with best of breed software courtesy of your friends, neighbors and vendors in the open source community. Open source is the secret ingredient in many of the technologies that we use today in legal and you are using open source software, whether you realize it or not. We’ll show you how to make more and better use of open source software to achieve better, faster and cheaper results.

PRACTICE MANAGEMENT Peer  Group Track

Is your responsibility practice-based technology support, services or consulting? Do you wear a number of hats identifying you as an expert on "everything the practices touch", from general practice support initiatives, the Information Center or firm-wide enterprise search engines (and usually everything in between)? Are you up at strange hours communicating with your colleagues across the country, a Big Pond or a Big Ocean attempting to support a global case? If any one or all of these is you, this is the track you need! We will be discussing the emerging profession of Practice Management, a profession you might already be part of but not yet realize. Join us on Tuesday and Thursday to learn about practice management in the US and around the world. Rub shoulders with your peers and be prepared to share your experiences in the areas of growing and marketing your services, business intelligence, practice- and matter-specific support, case data integration across various repositories and jurisdictions, global matrix management and service marketing.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT Peer Group Track

Project Management can be the stabilizing force in a world of  constantly changing technology, limited resources and conflicting priorities. Whether you are faced with a global deployment or a local office roll out or something in between, solid Project Management can be the difference between "smooth sailing" and a case study in disaster. The Project Management track is focused on connecting peers to take advantage of best practices, tools and technologies and real-world experience. Sessions will offer education and networking opportunities to expand your thinking about the discipline and how to apply it to your part of the world.

RECORDS MANAGEMENT Peer Group Track

Back to the basics:  best practices in legal records management.  After so much emphasis on “you should,” the Records Management Track will provide practical “how to” examples derived from successful records management programs in law firms of all sizes.  With the rapid convergence of matter-centric information systems and an explosion of electronic content, legal technology professionals are increasingly required to assess the value, life cycle and “recordness” of electronic information when making decisions.

RISK MANAGEMENT Peer Group Track

The Risk Management Peer Group is excited to bring you a great line-up of programming this year.  Sessions will focus on topics ranging from conflicts best-practices to the strategic placement of the risk management function(s) in law Firms of all sizes, shapes, operating models and geographic presence.  If you are interested in risk management or have some level of risk management responsibility, you simply cannot afford to miss these sessions where industry experts will be presenting practical guidance that you can take back to your Firm providing real value from conference in concert with fresh research which identifies emergent trends in legal specific risk management practices.

THOMSON ELITE Peer Group Track

The Thomson Elite Track focuses on the ever-increasing suite of products by Thomson Elite. We will be offering sessions targeted to both financial and technical individuals, from the beginner to the advanced user, and we will have speakers sharing their cutting-edge stories on how they have maximized and integrated their systems. Speakers include experts from Elite and individuals from firms with hands-on experience.

USER SUPPORT Peer Group Track

Chaired by Honora Wade of Perkins Coie

There are some profound changes coming to the definition of "document" as we have known it. As part of our look at Office 2007, we will discuss the impact of XML on many "traditional" elements of computing in the legal environment, such as templates and document storage (i.e., DMS, e-filing processes and more). A panel of your fellow members will provide plenty of food for thought about the impact XML will have on overall legal workflow. Another session focuses on end user preparation for the move to Office 2007 and Vista (ILTA U will provide a companion hands-on session in building e-learning in Office 2007). Learn how you can minimize classroom time while maximizing training results. Additionally, we will have a peer panel discuss Microsoft certification, including the new certifications available, the value to your firm and your personal career and information on the actual testing process. From a broader user support perspective, we will present a session on improvements to your helpdesk, including techniques for managing challenging end users and raising the overall performance bar.

VOICE & DATA COMMUNICATIONS Peer Group Track

With VoIP and Video, Network Security, Remote Access, E-Mail, and every other bandwidth hungry technology vying for their share, Data is consistently struggling with the bandwidth and time sensitive nature of converging technologies.  The Voice and Data Communications Track offers the opportunity to answer the questions that surrounds complicated implementations in your infrastructure.  By partnering with vendors and peers, the Voice and Data Communications track continues to build on existing platforms by presenting new technologies both mainstream and cutting edge for the legal environment.
